![]() I'm a bit of a creature of comfort I must admit and often don't push past my comfort zones, I've been the same since I was little, so this will be no surprise to my family and friends! I signed up for the MS QLD Brissie to the Bay bike ride a few months ago - having not been on my bike for well over six months, I figured it would be the safest and most sensible option to sign up for the 10km course. Most people would do some road training ahead of time you'd think? Not me, my training consisted of three short sessions on my exercise bike and then having the thought at the back of my mind -'if it rains hard enough, it might get rescheduled and that would be good (shamefully selfish on my part!)' Well, thankfully, it was beautiful weather on the day of the ride and I'm so happy for this, as all the people who took part in this event (cycling courses between 10km - 160km) have raised over $1 million for the people of Queensland who live each day with MS. What an amazing effort!!! I raised some money (thanks to the generosity of my beautiful sponsors!) and surprise, surprise - I actually enjoyed getting out in the sunshine and pedalling my little legs for a good cause! I've learnt a few things from this recent experience... Firstly, not to let my mind try to control me and talk me out of things Secondly, do new things (whether big or small) to stretch yourself out your comfort zone... Finally, life's too short!!! At the end of life, people are rarely heard lamenting on the things that they actually did and experiences that they had - rather, it's normally regrets of things not done and opportunities missed. So, do yourself a favour and get out into the sunshine of life whilst you can, you might be pleasantly surprised! xox
